All medical aid plans (including a hospital plan), irrespective of the provider, have Prescribed  Minimum Benefits (PMB) funds  available. This means that your medical aid is obligated to cover the costs  related to the diagnosis and treatment of a specified list of chronic conditions, such as experiencing symptoms after a traumatic event. Your PMB may cover either in-hospital or out-of-hospital mental health treatment, such as seeing a psychologist for therapy sessions. PMB coverage can be extremely beneficial, as your medical aid guarantees to reimburse you for a specified number of sessions received.

1. During your first session, your psychologist will determine whether you meet the requirements for a PMB application, as well as discuss the possible advantages  and disadvantages of such an application.

2. If you satisfy the criteria for PMB coverage, you will be required to complete an application form together with your treating psychologist, which we will then submit directly to your medical aid provider.

3. The PMB application is typically processed within a week, but  processing time may vary.

4. On approval, your medical aid provider will specify how many sessions will be covered. The number of sessions allocated will depend on your diagnosis and will typically be between 10 to 15 sessions.

5. You will be required to pay the full amount for your PMB approved  sessions directly to The Wellness Evolution. You will then receive a  statement containing a PMB authorization code, which you may submit directly to your medical aid for guaranteed  reimbursement. Your medical aid will  reimburse you in  accordance with their medical aid rate, which may be lower than the
cash rate.
